Sometimes you want to talk with another dad. Sometimes you need help with parenting, your child's needs or your own mental health. These five options offer different kinds of support.
Need urgent help? The groups and services below are not emergency contacts. Our Urgent Help page provides a separate route to urgent support.
01 / Talk with other dads
Online Fathering Support Circle
Talk through parenting experiences with other dads in a facilitated online group from Parent Support Services Society of BC. This is free peer support, not professional counselling or a drop-in chat.
Getting started: Register through the provider first. Confirm the current meeting time and how to join rather than looking for a public meeting link.

The Fathering Support Circle meets online, so Campbell River dads can join from home.

PSI Dad Support Group
Postpartum Support International offers free online peer support for expectant dads and fathers of babies and toddlers. Trained peer facilitators lead the group. It is available to Campbell River dads online, not as a local in-person program.
Before joining: Set aside about 90 minutes, arrive on time and have your camera ready for introductions. This is peer support, not professional counselling.
04 / When you are worried about your child
FamilySmart Family Peer Support
If your child or youth is facing mental-health or substance-use challenges, FamilySmart offers free peer support for you as a parent or caregiver. You can contact the worker serving Campbell River and the Comox Valley directly, without a referral.
Who this helps: This support is for parents and caregivers navigating a child's needs. It is different from treatment for your own mental health.
05 / Support for your own mental health
Campbell River Mental Health and Substance Use
Island Health's local adult service provides assessment, service connections and single-session counselling. You can start the self-referral process by calling the team. Appointments may be in person or by phone; contact them to discuss availability.
Before travelling: Call about the right next step and current appointment arrangements. Do not treat the address as a promise of an immediate walk-in appointment.
Prefer an informal local connection?
The Campbell River Dads Facebook group is another place to read, ask questions and share experiences with local dads. You are welcome to read along without posting.
The group is informal community conversation, not professional counselling or an immediate support service. A Facebook account is required.
